Sabertrio Skylar FX Lightsaber - New Upgrade

Third time's a charm

About a month or so ago Sabertrio contacted me to inform that I need to send  Skylar back for a new chassis which is made from delrin. The old chassis was 3d printed ABS where they had to sand down the chassis to make it smoother to slide out but the end result was not pleasing to the eye. Another issue with the 3D printed chassis is because it was a pain in the neck to remove and more pain in the neck to slide back in.

During the one month plus of absence, I felt like something was missing. I was beginning to miss Skylar even though I did not use it a lot. I was attached to Skylar maybe because it is my first saber.

Metal Earth: Destroyer Droid

Patience is the key to success

The last Metal Earth kit done was the AT-AT back in 2015. There are more kits available but I was not allowed to get them until I have completed all the backlog. This time round I will be building the Destroyer Droid.

Front and back of the packaging.

Same as the AT-AT, it comes with 2 metal sheets and an instruction sheet.

ToyWorld TW-D03: Grimshell - Part 2 (Final)

A little comparison

Last post was about Grimshell in the T-rex mode. In this post, I will look at Grimshell in both his robot and combiner mode. Transformation from dino to robot is a bit frustrating and there are a few guessing works to be done as the instructions are not clear. Same as Muddy and Roar. I guess the same can be said for the other 2 dinobots as well.

There is something about him in robot mode that brings out the WOW which cannot be captured in the picture. When you look at him in person you can feel his 'presence'. There are tabs all over which you need to make sure that they are properly tab in for the figure to be secure especially the legs.

Sabertrio Skylar FX Lightsaber

One holy grail completed

I was once asked what would I need in my collection in order to be proud of. There are a few things in my list. One of them is the Hot Toys 1:6 scale 1989 Batmobile. Another item would be in the form of this clue: "This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age." - Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lightsabers. Who doesn't dream of owning one?  Can't really remember when I first started watching Star Wars but I remember that I have always wanted one and any stick or a long object will be instantly turned into one.

When news was out that Hasbro plans to release the FX sabers in 2008, I was very excited thinking finally I can have my very own lightsaber. In case you have been living under a rock, the FX sabers "are high quality reproductions that light up and create sound effects when powered-on, powered-off, and when they impact objects. These sounds replicate the movie sound effects, to create a high quality display toy." - Wikipedia. I remember going to TRU constantly checking for new stocks but the only ones available was the Ultimate FX, buildable lightsabers and electronic lightsabers with extending blades.

Updates (22)

Another half to go

My how time flies. Half the year has gone by. This will be a simple update post as life got in the way of completing the review of Grimshell. I will try to find time to complete the second post of Grimshell.

The main reason for this post is to give an update regarding the Nikon Vignette which was mentioned ages ago. Was suppose to link the video right after I got the green light from Nikon but it must have slipped my mind. Anyways, below is the video link to of the vignette:

ToyWorld TW-D03: Grimshell - Part 1

Better late than never

The last review for the ToyWorld dinobots combiner was Roar which was done in 2015. How fast time has passed. I guess now is as good a time as any to start and complete the review of the dinobots. The next dino in the set is Grimlock Grimshell.

Front of the box. The artwork for Grimshell looks very impressive and menacing. The box is also much bigger than the Roar and Muddy's.

Transformers Prime Beast Hunters - Legion class Prowl

 And so it begins

Sorry for the lack of post as life and work has kept me very busy and tired. I had this idea in my head for quite some time but as time passed, I forgot all about it until a recent internet search. The same idea which I had forgotten about came back but at a much larger scale.

Image from tfw2005

As can be seen in the picture above, TakaraTomy will be releasing a Trypticon which will be the same height as Transformers Generations Metroplex. The original idea was to get some Legion class toys to interact with Metroplex simce he comes with a Legion class Scramper. A few Decepticons to invade Metroplex while the Autobots protect their base.

With the new Trypticon being released in August this year (hoping to get my hands on one as I missed the pre-order), the original idea was then upgraded to having Metroplex and Trypticon battle each other with some (as many as I can get) Legion class bots battling each other either on or around the titans. In my mind  this will make a nice display set.

With that idea in my head, and so begins the buying hunt for Legion class figures.

Updates (21)

 A complete circle

Before starting this post, I would like to apologise for not updating this blog regularly. I have completed the Decool Bat-Tank but did not have the time to complete the WIP post. There are a lot of things which are happening. First off I will be finally taking the diving course which I have paid for since last year. This will be happening at the end of April. To top it off, there will be the audit which I have to pass which will be happening in May.

In the meantime, here are a few things which has happened in the long absence from the blog. First on the list are the Egg Attack posable figures from KidsLogic/Beast Kingdom. Originally I wanted the Darth Vader but since the shop has a buy-one-and-get-the-2nd-at-50%-off deal, I got the Stormtrooper with it.

Decool 7108 Bat Tank - WIP 1

 Big but small set

Sorry for the lack of update on the blog recently. A lot has happened and I will have an update post in the future but for now, it is time to post another WIP and review on another Batman set from Decool. This time round is the Bat Tank. Same as the Bat Wing, this set is from the Lego set 7787: The Bat-Tank: The Riddler and Bane's Hideout but without the gate to Bane's hideout, Bane and his bike.

The Bat-Tank: The Riddler and Bane's Hideout

I don't really mind missing on the gate because I am more to collecting the Bat vehicles. I just wish they would have included Bane's minifigure in this set as well.

Updates (20)

One collection complete, more to go

Greetings all. I would like to wish all the readers out there a Happy New Year. The resolution I made for the new year is to complete as many models/kits as I can in the year and trying to get the Lego UCS R2-D2 and Slave 1.

There are a few updates which happened during my absence from the blog. Firstly, I have finally acquired all the PG sets. Not all are original but a complete collection is still a complete collection. Secondly, I was in a video vignette with Nikon over the weekends. It was a fun and new experience. Thirdly, I managed get my hands on the Decool UCS Batmobile. Saw it hanging in a local bookshop and I knew if I didn't get it, there won't be another chance.

I have also taken a few photos of some of my collections which was not reviewed in this blog:
