Blast from the past

Styrofoam Gliders

Those born in the 80's might know what a Styrofoam glider is. This was a toy which I remember playing a lot when I was a kid and almost every sundry shop sells it. The entire toy is made from Styrofoam and the best thing is that it glides without much effort. Just flick it with your wrist and it will happily glide across the room. I remember assembling it and spending hours just throwing it in the air, running after it once it landed just to pick it up and start the process all over again.

I'm surprised to be able to find it at a shop in the wet market. I thought this type of toys went extinct the day the tablet and smartphone was introduced to kids. The shop was selling this at MYR 0.70. This could be the cheapest and most fun toy available in today's market. The model I picked was the North American Mustang MK2.

PG Red Frame - WIP 4

Time to go our separate ways

After blogging for 8 WIPs for the PG Astrays, I decided to use different names for the post title. I will be splitting it to PG Astray Red Frame and PG Astray Blue Frame as opposed to PG Astrays. This might seem redundant because both kits are PG Astray Red Frame but in the long run it will make an easier reference.

With the completion of the legs and waist of the ABF and only the feet for ARF, it is fair to start work on the ARF. By the way, I have been given a dateline by my missus to finish both kits and tidy the room. Dateline: 30th November 2015.

PG Astrays - WIP 8

Can I have some more, please?

One leg was completed in the previous post while waiting for the paint on armor of the other leg to be dry. Once they are dry, the assembling process can begin. This is the leg where the peg of the knee is broken. I did not manage to find a solution to that problem so will just leave it as it is and manually move the knees if I were to do any poses with this kit.

Hexagon Collectibles - Captain America

Something unexpected

Today my missus passed to me something totally unexpected. She went out with one of her girlfriend yesterday to catch a movie. I couldn't meet/see her when she came home after her outing because I had to go work.

Today, she opened her bag and passed me this little fella:

PG Astrays - WIP 7

Difference in size is very obvious

After taking a short break to do a review on Transformers ToyWorld TW-D02: Muddy, I am back to continue working on the PG ABF. Mentioned in the previous WIP, the white parts were given a coat of pearl white from Anchor brand spray can. The color did not come out as expected. I was hoping it would be something like the pearl coating on the PG Wing Zero Custom but it came out like as though it has glitter on the parts. I don't think it can be seen in the photo but it is very noticeable when you look at it in person.

It took some time for me to get use to the outcome and when that happens, I'm liking how the white looks with the candy blue. Now that the armor parts are done, this will be the first time putting on the complete armor for this PG. I do hope it comes out nice.

Learning to Ride (again)

It's good to be back

Mentioned in the Welcome post, one of my hobby is riding a bike. I remember before I got my bike license I told myself that I would take the bike through the small lanes around the island. I'm very curious on where they will lead me to as most of them are either too small to fit a car or it can fit a car but the lane will become narrower.

I started getting on the bike since I was a young kid. I cannot really remember all of it but the only thing I remember when I was a kid was I would always tag along if my mum/dad rides a bike. I love the feeling of the air on my head. I grew up on a bike. My mum would take us anywhere on a bike. It is more convenient and a faster but more dangerous way to travel.

I did get my bike license in 2001 if memory serves me correctly. I was still in college and needed a transport to go to and fro from college. Since I did not have a car license yet, my mum reluctantly agreed to let me ride to class. I still remember the night before. I was in bed visualizing the route to college. These were the things playing in my mind: What route I will take, how I would turn on a slope, where to park, how to store the helmet.

ToyWorld TW-D02: Muddy - Part 2 (Final)

A place for everything

Mentioned in Part 1, this post will be about the articulation of Muddy in dino mode and how he looks like in robot mode. We will start with the head. His head is on both a ball joint and hinge which allows the head to be able to move up and down and turn right and left.

ToyWorld TW-D02: Muddy - Part 1

New kit on the blog

Taking a break from building the PG Astray brothers due to the rainy weather. I thought this might be a good time to feature something different on the blog. Not sure how this review will turn out so if you readers have comments on how to improve, I'm happy to hear it. This will be the first post on Transformers.

I've been a Transformers fan since I was a kid and during that time, I did not have the cash to get the characters I wanted. Fast forward a few years (more like 2 decades) I'm collecting some Transformers toys but only those I find interesting or the characters I really like.

I really like combiner bots e.g. Superion, Defensor, Computron, Devastator, etc. I also like Dinobots and I did wish they do combine together. My wish came true when I saw a combiner Dinobots built by frenzy_rumble. He named it Extinction.
