PG Unicorn Gundam LED Installation

Let there be light

This will be the final part of the PG Unicorn. Here the folks from HLJ shows how to do the LED installation for the PG Unicorn. This seems to be the most complicated LED installation. The good part with the LED installation is that the wiring are already pre-fixed. All we need to do is to put it in their respective places and fix the connectors together.

The installation of the LED is different from the PG Wing Zero Custom where you will have to actually put the wire through the body and terminate it at the backpack. From the video, you can see that Bandai has really put a lot of thoughts to this kit. There are areas in the inner frame to hold the wires in place.

Anyways, here is the final video for the PG Unicorn so sit back and enjoy.

PG Unicorn WIP video - Part 2

Final parts

I have linked 6 videos on the WIP of the Perfect Grade Unicorn in Part 1. Here I will share the final 2 videos for this year's highly anticipated kit. If there is one word to describe this kit it would be Awesome.

After viewing all the videos, I'm sure those of you who have pre-ordered this kit can't wait for the release date and start building. For those who could not get this kit, I hope watching all the videos would satisfy you as it did me. Anyways, enjoy the last two videos.

PG Unicorn WIP video - Part 1

Videos, videos and more videos

Hobbylink.tv got their hands on an early PG Unicorn and they are kind enough show the WIP for this kit. They  are releasing one video a day and each video contains a part of the build. There are currently 6 videos on this kit so far. Part 6 completes the unicorn build and I'm guessing Part 7 will be the weapons and Part 8 will be the final part with the transformation of the Unicorn.

Each video is about an hour long so sit back and enjoy.

Part 1:

BATMAN vs DARTH VADER

Who will win?

One of my favourite youtube channel is Bat in the Sun. They have votes for fans to vote for their favourite character to win. This episode is a battle between my favourite hero and villain. I was torn between who to vote for to win the battle. From the logical side, Vader will win because he can use to force. On the other hand, Batman is clever and is always prepared for a battle. He does his research before going into any fights. Anyways, site back and enjoy the battle.

There are more updates available regarding the PG Unicorn. First off are more photos of this highly anticipated kit.

Perfect Grade 1/60 Unicorn photos and runners

Unicorn ! Unicorn Everywhere!

Here are more photos of PG Unicorn. The more I look at the photos the nicer Unicorn is. I feel the best mode to display is to get 3 Unicorns and display them each in their individual form. Now the question is who is willing to get me those Unicorns.

Zaku II and its armaments

HGUC MSV Zaku II - WIP 4

Fine looking MS

In the previous post, we have completed the body and legs for this MS. It is time to give this MS hands to hold the weapon and finally the head to complete the kit. The hands are simple and straight forward. There are no hidden surprises here like the legs and body section.

Perfect Grade 1/60 Unicorn update

Teaser

Here is a teaser for the new upcoming Perfect Grade Unicorn. Released just a day before the Gunpla Expo 2014 in Akiba.

Watched this video more than once and everytime I watch it, I feel like getting the Unicorn. I guess this is the most anticipated kit of the year.

HGUC MSV Zaku II - WIP 3

Not so straight forward build

Mentioned in the previous post, this post will be about the legs and body. There are some things in this build which was unexpected. This makes the kit more interesting (for me) and I wish Ban Dai has done more of this for more kits. In order to reveal the twist in this build, let's start building from the legs.

HGUC MSV Zaku II - WIP 2

Paint job

After taking a look at the manual and separating the parts into their respective boxes in the last post, this post will be about parts which requires painting. I did not take photos of how the pieces are before they were painted. All I can say is that they all come in one color. The amount of parts required for a paint job is not a lot. This is also true for the number of paints required. One thing I did differently are putting on the decals/stickers right after the paint job has been completed.

Future Alternative

Another Future?

For those who are in the plamo hobby and likes painting metallic color, there is always a need for Gloss finish top coat. For those who are facing financial troubles, they will opt for a cheaper variation which is called the Future Floor Polish. It is a water-soluble acrylic floor coating which has self-levelling properties.

There are some countries which does not carry this product. For those who are in a tight budget and are looking for an alternative, here is a link which might help. This link list of all the alternative products or names of the Future in most countries.

HGUC MSV Zaku II - WIP 1

Another MSV suit

After completing the MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G, the next project I decided to tackle is another MSV (Mobile Suit Variant) kit. This is the MSV Zaku II. From what I know, the only difference between this suit and normal suit are the legs. This suit has more thrusters and stickers compared to other hg kits.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 11 (Final)

Weird looking knees

This will be the final post for the Seven Sword. In previous post, all parts of the kit have their armor on. Now the only thing left to do is to assemble this kit and see how it turns out.

Arranged by sections before final assembly. Missing sections are the weapons and backpack

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 6 (Final)

A changed mind-set

Since the backpack was painted and assembled in the previous post, now is time to complete this kit.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 10

SUIT UP !!

+10 points for those who knows the show and the character who likes to say this. As the title suggest, I will be putting on the armors for the MS. Took a while to complete the shadowing and I'm not sure how it will turn out once they are put together. Fingers crossed that they have a consistent look all around the kit.

Since we have assembled the inner frame in the last post, we have to dismantle them in order to put on the armors. As usual we will start with the feet and work our way up to the head (although I accidentally assembled the armor for the head).

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 5

More mistakes to come...

Since the mistakes made during the process of paint the backpack was rectified, it is now time to assemble it for the second time. I started assembling the side of the backpack first. I shall call them 'wings' for easier reference. It has the most parts and also I want to see the gimmicks of this piece. From what I can gather from the manual, the 'wings' are able to expand and collapse to hide the missiles.

Closed form of the 'wings'

When the 'wings' are expanded. In this form, you are able to see the various colors on the 'wings'. This makes the 'wings' look more interesting.

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 4

Mistakes, Mistakes and more Mistakes

In this post, we will look at the hands and the painting required for the backpack. The hands are simple enough with minor paint job like the rest of the kit. I'm beginning to feel that either this kit has little paint jobs to be done or I'm just too lazy to do so much painting.

Anyways, back to the hand. The parts which requires painting are the hands which are white when they are suppose to be in black and a small vent which will be painted yellow.

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 3

Put your right foot in, put your left foot in...

Mentioned in the previous post, the shields were being painted Orchid color instead of pink. To be honest, they are not the only one with the Orchid color. There are parts of both the left and right legs which requires the same color.

Can you spot the part which has the Orchid color?

RG 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero Custom EW - On Display @ All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2014

There will be a new RG which will be released in December. This will be released the same month as the PG Unicorn. December will be an interesting and taxing month for those who are planning to get both the RG and PG releases. BanDai has made a very smart move. Anyways, here are the details of the new RG Wing Zero Custom.

Release Date: Dec 2014, Price: 2700 yen.

Perfect Grade 1/60 Unicorn

Finally...

There will be a new Perfect Grade releasing at the end of this year. It is the Unicorn gundam with LEDs and it is able to transform. There are no preview of the model yet but all will be revealed on the 21st November 2014 at the Gundam Expo. For now, here are the details.

PG 1/60 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam (Release Date: Dec 2014, Price: 21600 Yen)
PG 1/60 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam LED Set (Release Date: Dec 2014, Price: 12900 Yen)

Yes that is correct. The LEDs are sold separately from the kit and yes the LEDs are about 1/2 the price of the kit itself. Anyways, I don't know who would buy the kit and not the LED together. Below are the gimmicks which BanDai has listed out:

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 2

Small but useful

No I'm not talking about this kit. I'm talking about something else which I accidentally found out its existence. As you all might be aware, I have an on-the-go box for my kits. The thing I need and could not fit into the box is a cutting mat. Recently I went to a stationary shop and saw that they were selling a precision knife with a A5 size cutting mat. I instantly knew I had to get it to complete my box.

SD Blaze Zaku Phantom - WIP 1

Start of something new

Started this little fella after getting tired of shadowing the armor of the MG OO Gundam Seven Swords/G.

Got this kit from a toy exhibition few months ago. They were selling 3 kits for the price of MYR 15. I actually only wanted one but since they only have the option of getting 3 kits, I got the SD Red Frame, SD Dendrodium and this kit.

New online shop...

...new to me anyways

If any of you are in Malaysia and looking for a cheap plamo kit (either original or 3rd party), you might want to consider Gundoom. Found out about this shop last year but did not pay much attention to it since I just re-booted this hobby.

The shop is based in Johor and they only does online sales. The shop has a lot of variety and the prices are lower than other shops (online and retail). The only thing you might want to take into consideration when ordering are the shipping cost.

How cheap is cheap? We take MG Sazabi Ver. Ka kit for comparison. Here are some of the price list of some hobby shops available in Malaysia:

Mechanical Parts x MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver.Ka

Upgrades !!

This is the mechanical parts upgrade for Sazabi Ver. Ka. It has a total of 16 metal parts upgrade. Ordered this together with the Sazabi Ver. Ka. Can't wait to see the parts and if it looks nice, will consider getting the metal upgrades for Gouf and Zaku II. Also might get the Sinanju metal parts when I get the MG Sinanju.

Mechanicore 1/100 model kit RX-105 Ξ "xi" Gundam

Something New To Consider

This is a 3rd party company which makes Gundam models. The price is not as cheap as Daban, TT Hongli, Gao Gao etc.. From my limited knowledge, the other 3rd party company just replicates the MS from Ban Dai but not for Mechanicore. From what I can see from the images, they are more detailed and they make their own gundams like the above mentioned.

The 2nd pre-order is now open and it comes with Zinc Alloy V-fin, A1 Size poster and a special packing box with a random serial number (#1501 - #3500). Below are a few images of the kit and who to pre-order from.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 9

Skeleton anyone?

Since the completion of the head in the previous posting, it is time to assemble the inner frames and look at their articulation. What I always like to do is to arrange the parts to where they are suppose to go.

Scribblenauts Unmasked

Blind super heroes

Taking a break from shadowing the swords and other armour parts of the MG Seven Swords. During this break, I will be talking about this new thing I mentioned in the August loot. It is called Scribblenauts Unmasked. What is this? I had no idea it even existed until I saw it on the counter at Borders.

From what I can gather by looking at the box, it has a total of 11 different figures and there will be more of this coming out since this is considered as Series 1. There are 2 special figures and it is a blind choice. You cannot and do not know what figure you will be getting until you purchase and open the box. Since there are only 4 left, I decided to take a chance and get all 4 hoping there are no duplicates.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 8

The shadowing head

After reviewing all the weapons and different parts of the kit, it is time finish is off with the head. There are no gimmicks on the head unless you consider glowing eyes when the LEDs are on. As usual, the different parts of the head before assembly.

After fixing the mouth piece, I decided to paint the vent at the side silver. Hope this will be shown clearly when the entire head has been assembled.

After completing the head, I couldn't help but look at the head. I feel this is one of the nicest looking head I've built so far. It looks complex and futuristic. The only thing I didn't like was the 'ears'. Reminds me of elves from LOTR.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 7

First blood

This post is the continuation of the weapons for the Seven Swords. From the previous post, we just saw sword one of seven. There are six more swords to finish for this fella. The remaining swords to finish are the katana(s), long and short GN Sword II and the two beam sabers. All the swords for this kit were given the same treatment of flat black, silver lining and darker shade of blue except the beam sabers.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 6

Call To Arms !!

Can you figure out what will be the focus of this post from the title? If you did not manage to, allow me to tell you. This post will be about the arms and weapons.

Parts of the left (above) and right (bottom) hand before and after assembly

There are 2 different type of fingers for both left and right hand. One is the open fingers and the other is the closed fingers.

Loot #6

This is the loot for the month of July. Was hoping that the RG Z'Gok would arrive in time but no such luck. Bought new type of paint to try since it was on sale. The color I got was Steel Grey. Would be trying this on the next MG for the inner frame. If the color turns out nice, might consider stocking up on it as I can forsee that I will have lots of MGs, RGs and maybe some PG frames with this color on it.

There are also DC figures called Scribble Unmasked. Since there are only 4 left, I decided to get all 4 and hope that there are no repeats in them. I will post a review about them in the future and also show what figures I got and how many are there to collect.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 5

Gundam Age 1 Normal early production?

After completing the legs and waist, it is only logical to do the chest next.

Panel lined parts of the inner frame of the waist

The first part the manual instruction is to fix is the lower section of the cockpit. After assembling it, the particular part reminds me of the 'spoiler' on the back of Gundam Age-1 Normal.

MG OO Gundam Seven Sword /G - WIP 4

Kick-starting

Kick-starting this build since it halted in May because of the astray group build. Since I have finished my entry it is time to get back to work on completing my first Master Grade kit. Starting off with the kick-start project is the left leg (no pun intended).

Parts of the left leg before assembly

Same treatment of gold and silver was given to the piston.

Loot #5

Just got these today. First loot of the month. I got the MG Epyon, RG Expo Edition Freedom, a micro USB cable for my phone and 2 bottles of paint (tan and flesh). The paints are for the pilots of the MG gundams. This will be my first time using paints and if anyone has any useful tips do feel free to leave a comment.

HG Red Frame (Flight Unit) - WIP 15 (Final)

This is the final part for the Red Frame (Flight Unit). In this post, the entire arsenal of the RF will be shown and how he will carry it into battle. First off as mentioned in the previous post, I shall give the Red Frame a new name. Been thinking of a name for a long time and I feel this name is appropriate. I present to you the Shinobi Astray Red Frame Seven Swords (Flight Unit).

Why the name Seven Swords? If you remember correctly, there are a total of seven swords built in this entire process. First is the Gerbera Straight, next would be the 2 Caletvwichs and followed by 2 katanas from the Builders Part. If you are counting, the total comes up to 5. Where are the other 2 swords? They are the 2 beam sabers on the back of the kit. Hence the name Seven Swords.

HG Red Frame (Flight Unit) - WIP 14

In the previous post, we saw how the flight unit was attached to the RF with a few action poses and all the standard weapons were shown, I will show the RF with the Caletvwich as discussed in Part 10 and the additional 2 katanas which was reviewed in Part 11.
Before we go into that, let's change the RF's front section of the helmet first. All we need to do is to replace the existing V fin and front helmet with the ones supplied with the Caletvwich kit.
The parts to be replaced
The assembly is a simple process. Attach the front helmet on, attach the pink V fin and finally the red V fin on top of the pink. Once completed, the RF should look like this:

Loot #4

Latest loot of the month. It is the Limited Edition Nickelodeon TMNT figures. From what I know the Shredder is from SDCC 2013. Not quite sure if the Night Shadow Leonardo is also a SDCC 2012 version or just a re-release. I do hope they will release another turtle this year during the SDCC.

Neo Zeong unboxing

Here is a live streaming of the Neo Zeong from Gunpla TV. All I can say is that it is a very huge kit. Sit back and enjoy!
